When I Grow Up

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? Me? I wanted to be an archeologist, mostly because I loved rocks.

Somewhere along the way I changed my mind to psychologist, then academic. Then I found myself in communications, where I happily remain.

Do you talk about careers or work with you children? Do you have dreams of what they might be when they grow up?

We do – Izzy (1st gr) pretty consistently tells us she wants to be a vet. And she plans to go to college in MN near her grandparents. I remember wanting to go to college in CA to become a marine biologist, but then remembered I was (and still am) afraid of any possible shark encounters in the ocean. My only career related dream for all of my daughters, is that they never feel limited to acheive what they want – we often hear “girls can, but boys can’t” or vice versa statements from them and hopefully, we can show them that neither is true.

I love the idea of you swimming with sharks:) And we are glad that you are in the profession you are:) I can attest that you’ve made countless families happy!
